2024: A Year of Continued Advocacy and Empowerment
Looking back on 2024, it's inspiring to witness the continued growth, momentum, and impact of the work undertaken. This year has been a testament to resilience, collaboration, and driving change, with key accomplishments across advocacy, community engagement, and leadership. Here’s a look back at the most significant moments that defined my year:
JANUARY
Continued leading O'KANATA, the federal non-profit that empowers Indigenous youth.
Began new role as Youth Internet Governance Forum Canada Indigenous Engagement Coordinator.
Participated in the EU-Arctic Dialogue Program.
Selected as the Indigenous representative for the 2023/2024 University of Manitoba’s Undergraduate Political Studies Students Association.
FEBRUARY
Joined Global Shapers’ Winnipeg Hub, an initiative of the World Economic Forum.
Selected as the recipient of the Prairie’s Emerging Leader Award from Canada’s Volunteer Awards.
Attended and presented at Leading Change 2024 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Attended and presented at Frayme Learning Institute 2024 in Ottawa, Ontario.
Joined the Board of Directors of the Canadian Pride Historical Society.
MARCH
Joined the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association of Canada - NATO.
Spoke on the Indigenous Youth Roots’ Urban Parks Panel.
Selected for the Building Young Entrepreneurs Program at the United Nations Association in Canada.
Spoke at the 2SLGBTQQIA+ Economic Empowerment Symposium in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Joined Ducks Unlimited Canada’s National Youth Advisory Council.
APRIL
Participated in the 2024 UN ECOSOC Youth Forum and 2024 UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.
Spoke at the NCTR’s Imagine a Canada virtual leadership program event.
Received the 2024 Canada Volunteer Award for Emerging Leader - Prairies from Minister Jenna Sudds in Ottawa.
Selected as a Global Youth Ambassador for TheirWorld.
Selected as a Youth Leader for Experience Canada’s 2024 National Youth Forum.
Selected as a National Actions and Advisory Council (NAAC) Member for LetsStopAids.
Selected as a 2024 Impact Consulting Fellow for Propel Impact.
Selected as a Youth Leader for the World Youth Parliament for Water.
Selected as a Grassroots Activist Leader for Amnesty International Canada.
Selected as an Ocean Wise 2024 Eco-Action Accelerator program participant.
Selected to participate in and attend the 2024 EU-Arctic Youth Dialogue.

Participated in the 2024 EU-Arctic Youth Dialogue and EU-Arctic Forum in Brussels, Belgium.
Selected as a Research Assistant for the National Security Centre of Excellence.
Selected as a World Food Forum Agrifood Systems Student Ambassador.
Accepted into the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund’s Youth Ambassador program for summer 2024.
Selected as a 2024 HEY North America Ambassador for the Caribbean for the Ashley Lashley Foundation.
Selected for the 2024 International School on Climate Mobilities by Earth Refuge.
Selected as a participant of the 2024 McGill Summer Institutes in Global Health.
JUNE
Awarded the 2024 Small Business Champion Award from the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.
Selected for Astrazeneca’s Eureka Fellowship for the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal, QC in September, 2024.
Participated in meetings in Toronto, ON as part of the Home Depot Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council.
Participated in training in Winnipeg, MB as part of Duck’s Unlimited Canada’s Youth Advisory Council.
Visited Austin, Texas, to network and engage with students at the University of Texas-Austin.
Selected as a program participant of the 2024 Press Start CoLab Program.
JULY
Participated as an Indigenous Youth Leader at Experience Canada’s Reconciliation Youth Forum in Ottawa, ON.
Participated in the Global Shapers Annual Summit as Curator of Winnipeg Hub at the World Economic Forum Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.
Enrolled at Yale University for the Certificate in Financing and Deploying Green Energy Program.
AUGUST
Selected as part of the 2024 - 2025 cohort of the Parliamentary Internship Programme in Ottawa, ON.
Participated as a speaker in the AFS Youth Assembly in New York City, NY.
Interviewed on CTV Morning Live and Global News regarding Eureka Fellowship selection for the 2024 One Young World Summit.
Selected as an Advisory Board Member for the International Association for Political Science Students.
SEPTEMBER
Attended the 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal/Tiohtià:ke with support from AstraZeneca Canada and Plan International Canada.
Attended the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Event on Parliament Hill.
Spoke at Indigenous Services Canada’s Regional Operations Knowledge Sharing Day to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.
Selected as a Youth Policy-Maker on the Ontario Council for International Cooperation.
Selected as a ONE Global Activist for the One Campaign Canada.
OCTOBER
Consulted with the Minister of Northern Affairs, Dan Vandal, on the Canadian Arctic and Economic Reconciliation.
Testified at the Senate of Canada’s Indigenous Committee as part of the Voices of Youth Indigenous Leaders 2024 program.
NOVEMBER
Trained and certified as a JACK Talk for Indigenous Youth Facilitator.
Consulted with Canadian Supreme Court Justice Andromache Karakatsanis.
Selected as one of Canada’s Top 30 under 30 Sustainability Leaders by Corporate Knights.
Travelled to Iqaluit, Nunavut for a Legislative Study Tour and consulted with Premier Akkeagok.
Official Development Assistance Academy Enrollment and Achievement by One Young World and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Volunteered as a facilitator for Virtual Brainstorming Groups regarding Arctic Youth Dialogue 2025.
Selected as an Advisory Council Member for the Canadian Centre for Nonprofit Resilience.
DECEMBER
Joined the Indigenous Peoples Working Group for the Arctic Youth Network.
Continued work with Global Shapers Winnipeg and Indigenous Youth Roots.
Celebrated New Years Eve in New York City.
2024 has been a year marked by advancement, intention, and the relentless quest for meaningful transformation. Every experience has intensified my commitment to advocacy, leadership, and empowering communities, while continually encouraging my personal and professional growth. The insights gained and the relationships built this year have strengthened my resolve to foster a more just and sustainable world.
As I look forward, I am eager about the possibilities that 2025 will bring, and I remain determined to further the initiatives I have begun, fueled by the same enthusiasm and resolve that propelled me through 2024.
