ABOUT ME
Justin langan (he/him) is a 26-year-old metis activist from the rural community of swan river, mb. HE IS A CELEBRATED STUDENT, ADVOCATE, AND COMMUNITY LEADER. JUSTIN IS a graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA with a bachelor of arts undergrad in political science and philosophy. He is currently a parliamentary intern in ottawa, on as part of the prestigious parliamentary internship programme.
JUSTIN’S JOURNEY BEGAN IN 2015, WHERE HE WAS ELECTED PRESIDENT OF HIS HIGH SCHOOL’S STUDENT COUNCIL; SOON THEREAFTER, HE HELPED TO DEVELOP HIS TOWN’S FRIENDSHIP CENTRES’ YOUTH COUNCIL. JUSTIN WAS SOON ELECTED TO SIT ON THE NORTHWEST METIS COUNCIL’S YOUTH COUNCIL AND THE MANITOBA METIS FEDERATIONS’ PROVINCIAL YOUTH COUNCIL. HE HELPED ESTABLISH REGIONAL YOUTH COMMITTEE’S AROUND THE PROVINCE AND VOLUNTEERED AT hundreds of local events.
SINCE 2016 JUSTIN HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN VARIOUS CAPACITIES WITH THE ROYAL CANADIAN MOUNTED POLICE, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FRIENDSHIP CENTRES, JACK.ORG, LOUIS RIEL INSTITUTE, CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL, THE CANADIAN FEDERATION OF STUDENTS, CANADIAN ROOTS EXCHANGE, WE MATTER, THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA, AND MORE.
JUSTIN HAS RECEIVED NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR HIS ACTIVISM, INCLUDING THE 2021 METIS YOUTH INDSPIRE AWARD, TERRY FOX HUMANITARIAN AWARD, TOP 25 ENVIRONMENTALISTS UNDER 25, NATIONAL CHAMPION OF MENTAL HEALTH FOR YOUTH, AND MORE.
